With COPD, did you exercise today?

Many patients with COPD worry that exercise will exacerbate breathing problems. In fact, on the contrary, patients with COPD should consciously perform moderate exercise, which can increase lung capacity on the one hand, and stimulate the vitality of body functions on the other hand. At the same time, the training environment is also very important
First of all, before exercising, make sure that the surrounding air quality is good. For example, in spring, you need to pay attention to stay away from places with a lot of pollen, and in winter, you need to stay away from hazy days. Do not exercise blindly. Otherwise, it will increase the burden on the lungs, which is counterproductive.
Secondly, you need to grasp the degree of exercise and carry out the right amount of exercise. Before exercising, it is clear that the purpose of our exercise is to activate the cardiopulmonary function. During the exercise, pay attention to the exercise intensity. Ordinary patients can measure it according to their own asthma frequency.
The following are several types of exercise recommended for COPD patients
1. Take a walk.
2. Cycling
3. Breast expansion exercise
Breast expansion is an exercise that can be performed at home or outdoors, and props, such as mineral water bottles, can be used during exercise. At the beginning, you can expand your chest slowly. If you feel that the weight is too light, you can also increase the weight.
4. Tiptoe exercise
Doing some leg exercises on a regular basis will make walking far and easy. Stand on tiptoe and stand 15-30 cm behind a firm chair, keeping your heels off the ground. Balance, inhale, stand on tiptoe again, exhale slowly, hold on tiptoe for a moment and then let your heels return to the ground. As you get better and better, try single-leg exercises. Do 2 sets each time, 10-15 times per set.
5. Jogging
6. Abdominal breathing
Sit or lie down in a comfortable position to relax, put your hands on your belly, and breathe slowly through your nose with your mouth closed until you feel your lungs fill with air like a balloon and your belly moves outward. Then slowly exhale, the abdomen bulges when inhaling, the abdomen collapses when exhaling, the chest does not move. Try to keep the exhalation time longer than the inhalation time, exercise about 10 minutes each time and focus on the upper and lower abdomen, gently press the abdomen, and advocate the use of the diaphragm when breathing.
